As I didn't know what I would need to start I felt this was a good entrance to supplies especially when you don't know what you need. I did feel as though it was a little pricey when I purchased, but it got me started. I quickly found out that I needed more. I was especially happy with the trimming scissors and I am still using them. If I had purchased this on the sale price, I would have given it 5 stars.

(More customer reviews)I guess you get what you pay for, but I was expecting something of somewhat decent quality, I mean, this is just needles and thread here. I don't see why I should have to spend even $10 to get something that isn't total garbage. First, the box itself is useless. You can never get the pieces back into the box the way it arrived, and the box broke upon opening it. The thimble is a joke - a silly plastic thing. The "pin cushion" is a cheap spongey thing, like the kind of stuff you might get as cushioning in an electronics box. The thread is eh. The needles, ugh, here is the worst. They all broke! Mid-sew! I'm not a super powerhouse with the sewing needle; it's not like I'm thrusting away wildly getting that button sewn on. I have never had a needle snap in half mid-stitch! Please don't waste your money on this.

(More customer reviews)Bought this item quite a while ago in the hopes of putting a few drops onto my squeaky video card fan. Well, turns out the fan was on it's last legs, not just out of oil. And we're going to assume that I didn't drive it to death by pulling a Frankenstein in the first place. Anyhow, I only need a few drops for that task... but then there were squeaky hinges, stuck drawers, etc etc. Surprising how useful this stuff is! It's worked wonders!

I do regret that I did not read the numerous reviews on this item before purchasing it, or I may have passed on buying this model. I hope her and I are not dissapointed and she is able to enjoy it effortlessly for years to come. READ REVIEWS BEFORE PURCHASING so as to be able to make a more informed decision. I will say on the "JANOME" companies behalf that when they no longer had the model I purchased, the "4400", they shipped out immediately a much newer model the "4900". I will have my wife present a more detaied review at a later date when she's had the time to use the machine. jerry

This is a slender needle that doesn't damage the material as larger needles might. I've been sewing white satin using these needles, and the results are very professional. I'd highly recommend them for this reason.

I got two boxes, each box 8 1/2 (inch) by 8 1/2 (inch), 3 inch depth. Basically, two, compact boxes. One box, an array of pastels, consisted of beiges, pink and blues. The second box, are the darker colors: navies, browns, and an assortment of pinks. Each spool states '300 m'. Overall, You get an larger amount of Grey hughes. I was disappointed by the size of 300 m threads. I wanted about half the size of the serger spool size, however, I did a price comparison, from my favorite store, and Googled another popular store, and I got the best deal for Yards (quantity), colors selection, and quality (a good,an acceptable cotton thread). Hypothetically, if I would of purchased, 100 spool set, at 100 m each, from the popular store on line, I would of got robbed, or had to pay $230, for the silkier thread, and that I can live without. If I would of went to my favorite store... it would of cost me $70 for just 35 spools, even though I like how the threads are wrapped on the wider, white spools, however I don't think there is much more thread then 300m on it, maybe less. Nevertheless, the two boxes where just like the ones in the picture, wrapped more oblong, then the traditional ones, typically brought at the local stores. I was glad they sent one box of pastels and one box of darker, that was nice, for better variety. I do recommend this product if you like sewing with the same color thread as cloth, the spools are about .35 per spool, priced to about .98 per spool. So, I forked out the $67, it may worth it. They don't, but we had no way of knowing that the whole insertion mechanism of the Buttoneer had changed so much and was still being called "original." I'm sure there is nothing wrong with the refills, but we can';t use them in our 30+ year old Buttoneer.

(More customer reviews)I have used my dress form for 4 pieces of clothing now. It works really well. It really takes the guess work out of sewing if you aren't into using patterns all the time (it works really well for pattern use too)!
My only complaint is that although the size is adjustable, the shape is not. Not all women are hourglasses or curvy in all the same areas and I think that this would better accommodate all shapes if the actual waistline was adjustable.
Overall, I am really glad I bought this, as I am an avid clothing maker.

(More customer reviews)Love this! Sews beautifully, lots of great stitches, very easy to switch out the pressure foot. Only drawback I've found was the bobbin cover is easy to misplace. It pops off completely to put on a new bobbin. But I've just made of habit of putting it in the same spot when changing bobbins so I won't lose it. I really like the little cubby hole storage box on the front to store the extra feet. Very nice machine, and I'm very happy with it.
