(More customer reviews)Purchased this serger after checking out reviews on the Web. Juki seemed to have a good reputation for reliability. It came threaded with the threads cut off & wrapped around the presser foot knob. A lot of people tie on another thread and do not thread the machine.I was determined to learn how to thread it and removed the cut off threads & threaded it with new thread. It was not as hard as I thought it would be but you will need tweeser's and the supplied thread hook. I tested the machine and it sewed perfectly. The machine was quieter than I expected and seems to be well built. I was impressed with the fit and finish of the parts as well as the cast aluminum frame. When operating there is very little vibration.Looks like a keeper, time will tell.

Heavy Duty Serger Overlock Carrying Case Review

(More customer reviews)On the positive side: The size of the case is perfect for a serger. It is wide enough, with ample room for the serger, the serger's accessories pouch, cords, foot pedal, and for the four thread cones once the supporting thread stem of the serger is lowered.
On the negative side: The plastic with which the case is made of is not rigid and the bottom of the carrying case which I received was curved inwards front and back. The cover did not fit snug over the base. Due to the bent base, there was a 1/2 inch gap in the front and in the back of the case when I placed the cover. Moreover, the two locks of this "heavy duty serger overlock carrying case" are not as sturdy as those of the 5300 Brother Universal carrying case. When I received my serger's carrying case, it had already received a hit, possibly during transport. and the cover's molded plastic hook on one side was broken. Those plastic hooks on the left and right which are an extension of the cover, support the two metal locks. They appear to be weak spots. In my opinion, the 5300 Brother Universal carrying case is by far sturdier, and its two locks seem to be more reliable.
One final note: As soon as I reported the damaged case, the company that sold me the case via Amazon.com were very courteous and they immediately credited my account. As a result, I bought the 5300 Brother Universal carrying case instead, and I am very happy with the 5300 model.

Make It Sew Sewing Machine Review

(More customer reviews)The Make It Sew sewing machine is a miniature sized 2 speed with top and bottom thread stitching, uses bobbins. It can run on 4 AA batteries or electric, and has a hand on/off switch or foot pedal option. The foot pedal creates more variable speed control for turning, corners, or designs. It does a basic single stitch only. I bought this machine at a thrift store in its original box and with all the accessories included, as shown in the picture. I was able to get the machine running in a very short time and make some basic practice stitching with it, but the problem I believe is with the instruction manual which is written in poorly translated chinese and was not too helpful. I had a vintage book here called Readers Digest Complete Guide To Sewing which had the information in it to help me get the machine working, thankfully. So I will be using this small machine to learn on since I have minimal experience with actual sewing machines. I feel that it is a nice item and will enjoy using it. I have about 40 of both the green translucent type and the watercolor version, and all fit my machine perfectly. I bought the watercolor bobbins because I thought they were pretty...my only complaint is that the darker bobbins sometimes overshadow the thread and it's difficult to tell the difference between similar thread colors (such as black and navy).

If your desired end result is double-fold bias tape, remember that you will need to fold it again after it's initial run through the tape maker and iron it at the center fold. The finished border on your garment or quilt will be one inch wide. Clover is the only company I could find that manufactures this two inch size bias tape maker.

Ruffler Foot Review

(More customer reviews)Put on the correct machine, it worked very well. In fact I have sewn about 7 "market skirts" - dirctions for doing so for a little girl was on the internet as a free-bie , and another site told you how to make it fit an adult. Both little and big turned out well.
The ruffler saves a lot of time, and the gathering is uniform. When working with slick polyester, I had to put interfacing on the edges I was ruffling, but, by golly, I had to do so with straight sewing also.
Bottom line: if you need one, call the dealer and make sure it will fit your machine. I bought two through Amazon. One, the generic, cost $15 and postage paid; the other was $32.95 to fit a Janome. It was also postage paid. The generic fit both Brother and Janome, and the Janome fit only the Janome.

Brother XL3500T 73 Stitch Function Free Arm Sewing Machine Review

(More customer reviews)I love this machine. Brother has made a solid, well built machine. It is mostly plastic on the body, but feels well built and sturdy. It is heavy feeling and doesnt feel cheap at all.
Threading it to start with was super simple but the automatic needle threader took some getting used to because I'd never seen one before. Now, that I have gotten use to it though, I can thread the sewing machine, start to finish in 10-15 seconds. Amazing.
I really love the drop in bobbin. It has a little plastic window so you can see the bobbin, use the plastic bobbins as well and you can keep an eye on your bobbin thead levels easily. Using metal bobbins blocks the view of the thread, but that is no fault of the machines.
Plenty of stitch options are included. Numerous bits and pieces are included but I have yet to need them. I use the extension Table extensively as I am a quilter and it comes loose pretty easily, unfortanately.
But all in all, that is my only real complaint. It runs quietly and pretty damn fast for my taste.
Highly Recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They do not tangle coming off the spool while in use. After I'm done using the spool I'll put a very small piece of tape to hold the running end of the thread.

BRATZ (REAL) Designed Sewing Machine Review

(More customer reviews)My daughter received this from her aunt. We followed the directions included in the package and found several problems with the item. (1) Once the machine is threaded (according to the directions) the thread feels so tight that it threatens breaking when you pull it through the needle... (2) The foot pedal pulls the fabric through the machine backwards.....(3) There seems to be nothing in the bottom portion of the machine which catches the thread to make a complete seam, in other words...the needle pulls the thread in and out of the fabric without leaving any thread connected to the fabric.
I am completely frustrated with this product and would love to hear that I am just using it incorrectly or that I have a malfunctioning machine. My daughter was VERY disappointed since she had looked so forward to "really" sewing on her own. Has anyone else had any experience with this product?

It came with a CD and written instructions. There was many screws and bolts but it was very easy to put together. I watched the CD and then followed the written instructions, you can do it yourself but it is easier when done with 2 people. No parts were missing, but if you have any parts are broken or missing Grace Company will promptly replace then with no issues. Be sure to register the purchase it makes it easier. The Juki sewing machine sews like a dream stitches are even and the speed control works well with the quilt frame. The quality and workmanship of the sewing machine is excellent, a joy to use.
