No, it's not a regular sewing machine, but this little guy can certainly do your mending work. I bought this because my dogs tore some holes in their bed, and I didn't want to drag out the full size sewing machine. Well, it just chug-chug-chugged through four layers of fleece. Job done!
Also, this Amazon affiliate is top notch. I got it in three days, and they test it for you before they ship it, so what can you lose?
