I actually bought mine for 99 cents from a jobber (the much-missed Odd Job in NYC) and have kicked myself ever since for not getting ten. The buy-two minimum here turns out to be well-advised; while the shaver is marvelous on natural fibers, the flimsy blade head tends to wear out when pitted against the blends most in need of a shave (such as pilling-prone acrylic). Also, the trimmings reservoir is rather difficult to pull off when emptying, which, in my case, resulted in a broken -- and subsequently scotch-taped -- catch and shorn fibers scattered across my living room. (More customer reviews)I was skeptical at first because I have a hard time trusting brands like Conair but I purchased this one anyway and it works great. Produces lots of steam so make sure you're careful when steaming! People complain about it leaking and not producing steam after a period of time....if they read the instructions they would know that it only leaks if the water container goes below half and that you're supposed to decalcify the unit from time to time (using a 3:1 water-vinegar solution) to remove any mineral buildup in the unit so that it produces steam normally. Avoid the problem altogether by using distilled or demineralized water only. Take care of it and it works like a charm. The only thing I don't fancy is that the steam hose gets pretty hot. The handle gets warm but not enough to be a problem.

(More customer reviews)The Button Magic just does not do as good a job as a needle and thread do. The plastic fasteners break and the buttons are very loose--one good yank (or an accidental catch on something) and the button comes out, often breaking the plastic "T" ends. Plus, the "T"s need to be pushed through the button holes, often requiring small pliers which can mangle/flatten the "T" tips. Better to just learn how to sew a button on, I say (type)!

I had to play around with the machine more than I used it, read the reviews here and on JoAnns' site and decided there was a better Serger out there.
Bought a Brother from Amazon, JoAnn only sold Singer.

Now, in defense of the Singer serger machine, it has a much heavier material cutter, less oiling and a heavier steel shaft, collar combination, than the Brother.
Also, when the Singer was serging it did an extremely good job of overlocking, better than the Brother, in my opinion.
After I became used to the Singer form of threading it wasn't as bad as most of the reviews made it sound.

Janome Needle Unit w/Presser Foot for Felting Review

(More customer reviews)I own and enjoy the Singer ER-10 Embellisher Singer Felting and Embellishing Machine.
After a little research I learned that the needles for the Janome FM725 and some other attachments would fit the Singer. Let's face it, needles for either machine are REALLY expensive at just under $4 each.
Needles will wear down and will need replacing. You can order 10 needles at $39 or you can order this kit with an extra needle unit (with 5 needles loaded and ready to insert in the ER-10) and it comes with 5 extra needles... for $39.
Hmm... well, I can't imagine that anything would happen to the original ER-10 Needle holder but hey, it's virtually free.
Unfortunately, the presser foot does NOT fit the ER-10 but it really didn't cost me anything.

It's been a long time since I purchase a sewing machine of any type and I was amazed by automation of this machine. It tells you when there is a problem such as thread breaking or warns you the presser foot hasn't been lowered. It stitches very nice and even. Even my husband was impressed! Watch out, once you get this machine you will be looking at every towel, shirt or piece of cloth wondering what you can embroider on it! A lot of Brother accessories will also fit this machine which makes it very versitle. I chose this machine over the Brother 150 as it had many more options to it. It's worth every cent!

(More customer reviews)I would say this is an okay machine for beginners. I say this because some seem to have the impression that the machine is supposed to do everything for you. First read the manual thoroughly so you can understand how the machine works. Second, in the beginning, my stitches kept getting tangled, and I realized all I needed to do was fix the tension. You just have to play around with the machine to understand how it works. Second, the "S" button is not in the stitch selector dial but stitch length. I've made 4 different projects with this machine so far and I love it. Works well and I'm sure I'll have this one for a while.

Singer Long-Life 10-Watt 120-Volt Screw-In Sewing Machine Bulb Review

(More customer reviews)I have been looking for 10-watt sewing machine light bulbs everywhere in brick and mortar stores but couldn't find any so I resorted to Amazon. All I could find in the fabric/craft stores around Boston were 15-watt ones. I was happy to see that this seller had the 10-watt bulbs I was looking everywhere for, and I purchased two even though the shipping cost was higher than the cost of two bulbs themselves. However, when I received the light bulbs today, I was extremely disappointed to see that I was sent two 15-watt bulbs. If I wanted 15-watt bulbs, I would've either bought them from an actual store and not have to pay the shipping cost OR I would've purchased a product with the label that actually said "Singer Long-Life 15-watt."
Stuff 4 Scrapbooking, please, in the future, if you are in fact selling 15-watt bulbs, please label your products as such. If you don't carry 10-watt bulbs anymore, then please don't list the item under the pretense that you do in fact carry them. And yes, even though I heard that inserting a 15-watt bulb into a sewing machine that says "10-watt bulb only" or "10W Max" won't really damage the machine, I felt really deceived by the mislabeling and jipped by the shipping cost.
And no, I'm not going to return the items because according to the invoice, I'll be responsible for the return shipping costs, and it's completely not worth it considering the shipping cost is higher than the bulbs themselves.

Singer CE-100 Futura Sewing and Embroidery Machine Review

(More customer reviews)What makes this product so attractive is that by connecting it to a computer you can get an endless amount of embroidery designs. It is also a full feature sewing machine.
I bought this item for my wife's birthday. It does everything that is advertised. The sewing functions are straight forward, and everything worked as it should.
The embroidery isn't as staight forward. The instructions are very poor, and limited. Although I have to admit, that I figured most of it out fairly quickly. The embroidery is slow, and of course you have to change thread for every color change in your pattern. The designs came out looking good. I also downloaded some free designs from other sites, and they worked just as well.
My problem with this machine is two fold. The one we bought broke after only a few hours of use. It was a minor problem. The bobbin holder had a crack where the tension screw goes in. At first everything was fine, but within a few hours the thread started catching in the crack until it was unusable. I'm sure that this won't be a problem for most customers.
The second problem is much more severe in my opinion. No one has parts for the machine, and it's near impossible to even get a parts list. One item that doesn't come with the machine that my wife wanted was a zipper foot. The part number for that item was listed in the book, but when I went to find it, absolutely no one had it. I even wrote Singer's part's department, and they wrote back telling me to call.
It's a neat machine. As long as you get one that works, and aren't concerned about parts availability, I don't think you can find a better ebroidery machine for less money.

It did everything it said it did and was not a disappointment. The video it came with was a little outdated but very quick and easy in describing what it can all do. I purchased Juki because of the quality in the name brand and not the functions, but from what I hear from my wife it does everything she could need. If you buy the extra feet (like all sergers) than it could do even more. Value for the money, compact and well made.

Singer DF151_G Adjustable Dress Form, Gray, Medium Review

(More customer reviews)I decided to order this dressform, so that I would no longer have to struggle with measurements and guesswork. Right now, I do not use patterns, and I envisioned draping fabric on the dress form, pinning and sizing everything up, like magic.
Well, I am still trying to figure all of this out. This dress form is handy, though I am not as pleased with it as I hoped I would be. It is very easy to put together, though I would be happier if it was heavier, sturdier-not so easy to tip or rock. I like that it spins on the stand. I thought the dials would be easier to use-they seem to want to pop back, spring-action, when the dials are turned up/out too high. Alas, I do not find that this model "models" my proportions exactly-you cannot expand butt, without also expanding the hips. I think the upper portion of the dressform will be more useful for fitting. Guess I will have to work with it, it has some limitations, but it also has some advantages that I have yet to explore.
